Loved everything about this Inn. Fantastic service – everyone was so warm and friendly. Rooms are a nice size and clean. The food was delicious at their restaurant, Artisan. Great location – close to Stratton and Mt. Snow. The Inn provided us with snow shoes which was a lot of fun. We will definitely be returning!
Spent two nights at the Four Columns. The town of Newfane is quaint and the Four Columns is a beautiful little inn. Our room was immaculate and comfortable with a fireplace (gas, but nice and heated the room quickly). I recommend getting a room in the “four columns” building. Breakfast is included and the omelet was particularly delicious. We also had dinner at the restaurant where the chef cooks using local ingredients from around the area. The steak was perfect. I also used the gym – few inns have one. It was rudimentary (treadmill, elliptical) but still nice for some exercise.
The Four Columns Inn and Artisan restaurant were spectacular on every level. Grounds, service, rooms were all top notch. The Artisan restaurant is a Farm to Table superstar. The pedigree of this restaurant is part of the Delamar Hotel group in Greenwich and Southport CT. The brunch menu might be the best deal on the planet. 5 star menu plus a cocktail for $15….. Great place to escape and unwind. Highly recommended!!!!

We enjoyed a one night getaway to the Inn for our anniversary. It was just what we were looking for in our room, private fireplace and jacuzzi tub, such amazing bedding! The art in the inn was excellently chosen and a pleasure to view and admire! The entire inn is decorated so nicely, we had an amazing dinner in the restaurant w/ excellent service from Sammy & even got to sit by the fireplace! Breakfast (included) was excellent and the choices were perfect for anyone! We didn’t arrange for spa services early enough but would have loved to enjoy that amenity as well. Everyone we encountered was at the top of their game and the inn was clean, well kept and just such a nice experience. We would highly recommend the inn to anyone- any season!
My boyfriend and I stayed for the night and had a wonderful time. The staff was great, the girl who checked us in was super friendly and walked us over to our room giving recommendations on things to do in the area. The servers for both dinner and breakfast were very attentive and pleasant. Our room was beautiful and modern with a gas fireplace in front of the bed and a large jetted-tub in the bathroom, with local soaps which I loved. We will definitely be back!
Melt in your mouth eggs Benedict, bomb cocktails, amazing service! What else can you ask for!
We learned about Four Columns from its sister hotel, the Delamar in Greenwich. We went last weekend and were met by attentive staff who looked after our needs. From the attractive room with fireplace to the delightful meal in the tavern, we had a great evening. Next day, we walked on their stream side trail in the snow. Enjoying our Friday night meal we decided to stay put and have a great meal in the restaurant.
Great cozy place, amazing complimentary breakfast, comfy beds, clean and rustic. Will be back!
We had a lovely night at the four columns. The bar was great, the dinner was amazing, the room was comfortable & all staff were pleasant and helpful. We LOVE the new look a decor. We initially visited years ago & the place had a slightly outdated, stuffy look. Now it looks amazing- clean, great design, inviting.
One the coolest old school new England bed and breakfast. Staff was very nice.
We wait with baited breath for months at a time in anticipation of our getaways to this hidden gem. The inn itself is beautiful; remodeled in the last few years but with the welcoming charm and comforting atmosphere you would expect of an old town. The food in both the Artisan restaurant and the Tavern is out of this world-our hats off to the chef. We have never had a meal that was less than perfection. We are tough critics and reminisce over the dishes we’ve eaten here all the time. The suites are gorgeous and elegant, and always spotlessly clean. Our favorites are Room 1 for the view and Room 2 for that huge, incredible jacuzzi tub! Electric timed fireplaces keep you cozy and warm, options for sparking waters, locally sourced wine, chocolate and caramels are always available, and you can bring your bottle from dinner up to your room to enjoy it privately. We sneak away every few months to recharge our batteries on fine dining and cocktails in our favorite little town. You won’t be disappointed!
My husband and I recently adventured to the Four Columns for our honeymoon all the way from West Virginia- 8 hours in the car! Let me tell you- it was worth every minute. I told my husband that I wanted a snowy, cozy, and romantic honeymoon…the Four Columns surpassed all my imaginations! First of all, the staff were so warm and welcoming from the start, it felt like you have known them for years. They were kind, and accommodating to anything you mentioned. On the first day, our fireplace on our room (south newfane) wasn’t working properly so we called the front desk, and after maintenance couldn’t immediately fix the issue, they upgraded us to one of their top rooms without charge! We stayed in that room the rest of our trip!
One thing to note- if you are coming to the inn to relax…BOOK A MASSAGE! Jesse Skiff was so professional, and talented at his work. It was my first massage ever. I think he could tell I was a little nervous, so he went out of his way to ensure I was comfortable. Oh- and my husband loved the steam shower as well!
If you are on the fence about booking a stay here, I wouldn’t hold back. If you want true bed & breakfast hospitality paired with good people and even BETTER food (seriously the chef is out of this world) that is what you will receive at the Four Columns.
My husband and I are just newlyweds from West Virginia who had no ties to a single soul before going to Vermont, but now they feel like family. Thank you for the best honeymoon I (thought) I could only have dreamed of. We have only been home 3 days, and I already miss the Four Columns Inn. They deserve each and every 5 stars and more.
This was a return trip to the Four Columns and it was just as wonderful as our first experience. We love the picture postcard setting and the beautiful, cozy rooms with superb amenities. But the best part is the friendly and professional staff – Meghan at the front desk was a great help with directions and local advice, Casey in the restaurant made our dining experiences very memorable. Can’t say enough about the whole team (George, Sage, et al.), thanks for a great stay.
This must be the best Inn you can stay in Vermont, the place is beautiful, and full of New England flavour, the rooms are comfortable, first time I can sleep in a bed not mine without complain, the staff will go the extra mile to accommodate and please you, and the jewel of the crown is the restaurant, you will be dining in one of the best restaurants in the country, and I am not exaggerating.
We spent a cold and blustry night holed up in the comfy confines of the 4 Columns Hotel. Our room was very comfortable and warm. We had a great gourmet meal in the dinner room by the roaring fire. The staff were outstanding, very professional. We got a great deal on ski tickets for Stratton as part of our package. Excellent value and we will be back.
Best meal I’ve had in Vermont!
We stayed here for our anniversary and it was beautiful. Our room was lovely and comfortable. Dinner was fantastic and waking up in the morning and eating farm fresh eggs while watching the chickens roam around the back yard was a real treat. I can’t say enough about Four Columns Inn.
My family and I needed to get away for the weekend to enjoys some winter adventure and a little pampering. Four Columns delivered all of that and more. Only 2h from the CT coast, it’s an easy weekend trip. The historic inn is a sophisticated version of quaint VT architecture and design. The restaurant is unrivaled in VT in my experience and had a fire roaring in the hearth all the time. The staff were all well trained, very friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. The rooms were beautiful, cozy and perfect to come back to after a day of skiing. We loved our stay and can’t wait to go back again!
